An open letter to the 362 fans on my Facebook page

When I started my company, I knew it would be a different kind of company. One that from the outset would be about moving the dial in tiny ways, like the flap of a butterfly’s wings… in the clients I chose to work with, the network I built around me and the belief transcending it all , we are connected to something so much bigger than the day to day rat race we tend to get caught up in .

You may be one of the 362 fans on my facebook page. If you are, I want you to know you are part of something bigger than just a Facebook page.

You are an individual who has a story and life experience that is completely unique. I scroll through the names of the Impact People Practices fans and I am in awe: I see coaches, CEOs, mums, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, authors, business leaders, innovators, techies… in one or two cases they might be the same person! (kidding. Well, not really… but for more on that you can read my blog from last week ). I want each of you to know that in some way, your presence on my page didn’t just happen.. it happened because of something, or someone that led you to that page. Through your posts, your comments and the great messages back and forth I share with so many of you, know that I am learning so much and more certain than ever that I am EXACTLY where I need to be right now in the universe!

Let’s face it: HR is not the sexiest topic in the world. So what it fascinating to me is that this group of 362 people… is somehow connected. Every day I am connecting the dots to more and more of you… and connecting you to each other… I love it.

My hope is there is a common connection; You are inspired and engaged in the belief that where you make the connection between a workplace that engages, inspires, connects, develops and one that leverages the brilliance of each of its employees, you are hitting the mark.

I LOVE that this page is not populated solely by HR practitioners- and by that I absolutely mean NO disrespect- but it is precisely because we have such a diverse group of leaders (and I use that term not lightly… each of the 362 is a leader in some form) that I think this page is not just a cool HR page, but a budding platform where ideas and conversations and connections are happening.

So that’s it this for this post, a  heartfelt thank you and an invitation to continue “liking”, “commenting”, “posting” and connecting… with the page and each other to make your voice heard. Certainly an invitation as well in the comments below to voice any feedback on what you would like to see more of, less of and any ideas you have for the page!

As you share this facebook page with those in your network who you believe also have something to say about leadership, social tools and the workplace, employee engagement, creating great places to work and reinventing what HR is about, you are helping to grow something bigger than just a “consulting business”. You are helping to grow a pretty awesome COMMUNITY.

      Thanks KT- I am in an incredible place right now and feel very blessed, and surrounded by incredible people. I feel “part” of something bigger than me.. much bigger…. and still not sure how the chapters will play out, but it feels awesome taking the journey with so many other supoprtive people like you!
